Grow Your TikTok Account
TikTok is still relatively new, even when you think about its previous version Muscial.ly. That’s why people are still discovering the best ways to be successful on the platform. Ironically, one of the most successful methods is to work TikTok together with another social network.
Some of the major influencers in TikTok also have exceptional performance on YouTube, with compilations like “The Best of TikTok” – and they manage to take advantage of the advertising system established by YouTube.
Understand Your Audience
You should start by asking yourself why people would want to follow you. What do you offer that thousands of other accounts don’t? Is it entertainment? Are you a good singer, musician, dancer, or stand-up comedian?
Are you so bad at doing those things that your videos make people laugh? Can you create entertaining joke videos? Can you motivate people or give them valuable advice to improve their lives? Or are you just the guy who lip-syncs without adding any value to your video clips?
Plus, it helps you get to know your audience better. You’re not making videos for yourself. Nor should you be making a wide variety of videos trying to make everyone happy. Successful TikTokers make videos they know their audience will love. On the other hand, it’s much easier to devote your attention to a particular group of people than to make random content.
Perfect Your Profile
One of the most essential sections of TikTok is your profile. This is your “page” on which you can establish your identity. You want your profile to look attractive to your target audience.
Your profile needs to highlight your identity as a creator. It needs to show your target audience why they should subscribe to your page.
Your profile will be the place where many people will have the first impression about you, so you will want to stand out from the crowd.
If you are starting from scratch, you have the opportunity to create the perfect username. It should be easy for people to say and write, and preferably relevant to you and your niche. Ideally, you should use the same username for all your social networks, so your TikTok followers will know how to find you on YouTube, Twitch, and Instagram.
The type of videos you intend to share should be obvious to everyone who looks at your profile.
However, be careful, particularly if you’re a typical young TikToker. Some evil people misuse TikTok. Don’t give out too much personal information on your profile, or upload pictures/videos that untrustworthy people might take advantage of.
For this reason, you should make sure that nothing in the background of your images/videos gives too much information about where you live.
Follow the Basic Rules and Conventions for Uploading Videos
There are certain expectations of TikTokers when they upload videos. At first, you need to make sure you don’t violate the general content guidelines of TikTok. Your videos should not contain anything inappropriate, hate speech, racism, etc.
Remember that some adults misuse TikTok, so be careful when uploading videos of yourself doing perfectly normal everyday activities that evil people might take advantage of (e.g. is it really a good idea to upload a video of you and your friends at a sleepover?) Remember that TikTok is a public social network. Anyone can watch your videos.
Like Snapchat and IGTV, the convention at TikTok is to upload vertical videos. The ideal ratio is 1080×1920. Write an appropriate description on each video and include relevant hashtags. Choose an interesting thumbnail image for each video. And make sure you choose the right categories for your videos.
